Giannini AWN 300 (1975) info ??
Hello,
I'm from The Netherlands and staretd to study playing guitar a month ago. For this reason I bought a 2nd hand guitar (Giannini AWN 300) from 1975. I can't find any information about this guitar on the internet. I know it's build in Brasil, I even mailed the manufacturer but didn't get any respons, therefor I started this thred to find out if there is anyone who can give more details or even share (playing)experiences. It bought this guitar beceause of it's warm sound. Can anyone tell me the woord which is used, the original price in the denevties or may be en estimate value as of to day (although it is not for sale).   heres a picture of a 2006 Giannini craviola I recently purchased. this is a solid spruce top Laminate pao-fero-marodo wood (what ever that is) this is their cheaper version they do make this in all solid wood I had a bone nut and saddle put in it and it really does sound prety good. I love the shape and it is very nice to hold in your lap. its only 3.75 inches thick the only thing is it is not real loud but adequate. It works for me playing on the couch with out disturbing the old Lady to much. Action was and is perfect as good or better than any guitar Ive ever owned. Mine came without a pickguard I emailed the company in Brazil and they shiped one out to me and I had it in a week. Of course this pic is shown with out the pickguard. Yours looks like a solid top and the sides and back woods are similar to mine. I really dont know about the older ones just thought id show you this one.

my dad has a nylon string Giannini with Brazilian Rosewood back/sides- but it is laminated, not solid- I hear Gianini tends to do this- though I'm not positive of the information?

Giannini AWN 300
Deat Gert,
I saw your post at AG about Giannini AWN 300. The only thing I have to say is that you are with a Superb Acoustic guitar. Don't sell it! I could send you the catalog (pdf) of Giannini that contains a brief description of this guitar (there is an english version). I've seen many posts and reviews of this guitar, all are very positive. Gert -
Your guitar most likely has a solid spruce top with laminated Brazilian rosewood back and sides. From the photos you posted you can see that the wood on the inside of the back is different than what the outer layer is - my guess is that the inside layer is some sort of mahogany. It's not quite as easy to tell from your photos if the top is solid wood, but it appears to be. If it is solid spruce, the grain lines will continue all the way through and be visible at the soundhole. Hope this helps. Wade Hampton Miller
