Default SOLD: 2016 Taylor 110E Mahogany Top Prototype

SOLD is a 2016 Taylor Prototype 110e with a Honduran Mahogany top in excellent condition. Guitar has Taylor's ES2 electronics, and will ship in a like-new hardshell case.

With its Mahogany top, this rare Taylor dreadnought would be a "120e" if the model existed in general production. The guitar sounds great, offering the crisp, clean tone of a Taylor combined with added warmth thanks to the Mahogany top. Playability is top shelf thanks to a recent pro set-up. Guitar has zero issues.

Features, Specs, and Special Upgrades:
  • Solid Genuine Honduran Mahogany top
  • Layered Sapele back and sides
  • Genuine African Ebony fretboard, bridge, & peghead overlay
  • Scale Length: 25-1/2"
  • Nut Width: 1-11/16"
  • Electronics: Taylor's new Expression 2 (ES2) Pickup (3 sensor behind-the-saddle pickup with 2 band EQ)
  • Upgraded Bridge Pins (size 1): Bone with Abalone Dots (from MacNichol Guitar Parts)
  • Case Upgrade: Like new Hardshell case (4 latch, 5-ply wood/Black Tolex/Black plush lining)
  • Recent Pro Set-Up: Action set to just under 6/64" (.090") on the bass side, and 5/64" on the treble side. Relief set to .007".
  • Current strings: GHS Vintage Bronze Lights (12-54)
Click HERE to see a photo album of this guitar.

And here's a soundclip (recorded in one take on a Zoom H2n, using the stock mics set to XY configuration, placed about 12" from the 12th fret, and aimed at the 14th fret body join. The Zoom's automatic recording levels were used, and there were no edits, processing, or overdubs):

This is a great, unique, gig ready and gig worthy guitar. It just doesn't get enough playing time for me to justify keeping it.

Hi Russell. Thanks for your interest.

A 110e (from 2016) has a solid spruce top, with layered sapele back and sides. This guitar, a prototype, has a solid mahogany top, with layered sapele back and sides. If this guitar were in general production in 2016, it would have a model number of 120e. [With Taylor's model numbering system, when the second number is a 1, the top is solid spruce, and when it is a 2, the top is a solid hardwood (usually mahogany)]. Make sense?

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Hey Ed, what's printed on the label? Does it say "prototype" and is there a serial number?

Thanks Ed,
Russ

Hi Russ. The model is listed as either Prototype or Proto on the label (I'll check over the weekend to be sure), and yes, there is a serial number. It is 2108266605 (built 26 Aug 2016 in Tecate, Baja California, Mexico). Thanks again for your interest.

Bump off of the bottom of page 6
Thanks for all the offers, but this one is still available.
No urgency to sell, and fairly firm on price.

Default Would also trade for an electric guitar of similar value

Weekend bump with trade option added - I'd be happy to trade for an electric guitar of similar value (especially a Telecaster or something from the PRS SE series).
