Default Taylor BTO GS Custom Sinker Redwood/East Indian Rosewood

Taylor BTO GS Custom Sinker Redwood/East Indian Rosewood—Price Slashed!

As much as I truly hate to put this guitar up for sale, we have need to replace a chimney before the winter winds howl. We’ve already paid for a new dryer, furnace and bathroom re-model this year, so our liquidity is somewhat less than we’d like. I bought it about four years ago from Mike (a.k.a. ‘Woody’; a.k.a. Invguy); it has, regrettably, spent far too little time being played, so it is in essentially the same condition in which I purchased it. Mike describes it beautifully:

“Feast your eyes and ears on this beauty. Those of you who have followed the guitars I have owned and sold know that I have an impeccable reputation for delivering beautiful instruments...this one is certainly no exception.

This guitar is PRISTINE-no issues whatsoever, and virtually ZERO fret wear. It plays like butter and the sound has the traditional Taylor Sparkle on the high end, but with that rich "Chocolaty" warmth of the Sinker Redwood. For those of you who don't know what Sinker Redwood is, the wood was harvested from Redwood trees which had fallen and were perfectly preserved at the bottom of the Mendocino river up north. The dark lines were created by the mineral deposits and each piece has it's own personality and look. The specs you see in the pictures are dust picked up by my Nikon.

This guitar was built for beauty as well as sound. The Ebony back wedge combined with the other black features of this guitar make it absolutely stunning to hold and play.”

Price: $2250 + shipping/insurance/PP

Specs:

GS Body
Sinker Redwood Top
East Indian Rosewood back/sides
Venetian Cutaway
Solid Ebony Headstock and back wedge
Adirondack CV Bracing
1 11/16" nut
Short scale
Abalone rosette
Gloss finish on body and headstock
Neck stained dark to match the body
Gold Gotoh 510 1/21 tuners with Black Buttons
Bone nut and bone wave-compensated saddle

Mike’s sunlit pictures put mine to shame; here is a link to the original ad:

My lack of photographic talent notwithstanding, the guitars beauty speaks for itself; as soon as I figure out how to upload photos from my device, I’ll share with you those I took today!

This is simply a gorgeous guitar, not to mention tonally I'd call it "Taylor Chocolate"...really GOOD chocolate!! Every time I see it I'm SOOOO tempted to buy it back. But, too many guitars at my house to consider it now. BUT, This one needs a nice "bump".

Someone will love this guitar!

Asking price slashedóget it while itís available at this price! If I can find funds elsewhere, Iíll take this listing off entirely; so take advantage of this before I regain my sanity.

Lovely guitar... and my favorite of all shapes Taylor!

Funny thing... just after I moved to the Fort Bragg, CA., area, I met a longtime resident who had a couple redwood logs in the pond in front of his house... we talked a while, and I asked how long those logs had been there; his reply was that his Grandpa built the house and the logs came from clearing the land upon which his home was built!

I told him about the current "craze" in acoustic guitar building for using "sinker" redwood, and suggested he contact both Bob Taylor and James Goodall about buying those sunken logs...

James "passed", but Bob Taylor sent someone up right away, and they ended up going to the Taylor Guitar Company...

This would have been in 2009... wonder if your guitar is from that lot of sinker?!!!
