Default Kronbauerized

I used to have a top of the line Larrivee LV-10. Sold it 2 years ago to buy my Canteri, but always wanted another MJ body.
Played a couple of J-185's (nice but the ones I tried all had 'barn-door' pre-amps cut into the sides of the bodies), was really keen on having a custom 0000 built but gave up due to the lack of interest shown from the builder, and then arrived at the opportunity to get an MJ directly from Trevor Kronbauer.

I went ahead and ordered this beautie. I have to make special mention of the fact that he went all the way to accommodate me - even took a $700 knock off his price to honour his "delivered-quote"!!! That is the mark of a true gentleman in my book.

As for the guitar, it is stunning and sounds heavenly with lots of projection, superb balance (like Larrivees) but with more punch.
I'm a hog-guy, but love the "Koa-sound" with great bass, punchy mids and clear trebles, ringing all the way up the neck. It also has a nice full neck with a subtle V profile, very comfy for playing chords.
The Spruce is beautiful, well cut with lots of silking and no visible runout, it sounds great already and still needs to be played in - I'm so exited about this journey...

Well done and thank you Trevor!!

I don't recall seeing those but there might be one or two people who might not like the K's, yours is just stunning looking and I am sure a killer guitar.
Thats a gorgeous top and the finish looks awesome, congrats and I am sure it can only sound better once you start to get to know it.ship

Congrats Zohn- pity we now live so far apart so we can't get together. I have heard that Trevor builds great guitars so I am sure this is a keeper!

Congratulations on getting a beautiful guitar with the sound and feel and price you like. That's always a reason to celebrate!

Welcome to the Kroni Club. Trevor makes a great guitar regardless of price. The fact that he builds customs that are affordable is even better. Congratulations.

Siblings abound…

2003 MiniJumbo Koa/Sitka…sideport added

Balanced, warm, sweet high end, kicks like a mule (holds it's own in a jam), and sustains through next Wednesday…

I can't believe that he has only built 150 more since mine was done in 2006, mine was 106.

You can't ever take mine away and I know its going to stay with me till that day I can no longer play it.ship

Hi Ship...

Builders ordinarily build 15-20 guitars a year.

Some builders have refined it to an art (like James Olson) and can produce 50 or 60 a year, but that's really dependent on a lot of shop space, multiple sets of jigs and tools, and vacuum presses & spray booths which can handle multiple backs/tops at once (and being extremely self-disciplined day-in/out), and not having a full-time day job to come home from to continue building guitars.

Mine is also a 2006, a 00 12 fret "small body", mine has a serial number in the same range. Trevor included the sound port as part of the custom build. love my Kroni.

I agree, naturally a builder's production rate is motivated by his order book. I would imagine James has considerably more guitars on order and has thus streamlined his production to suit. I personally think it is fabulous that Trevor builds them one at a time though.

Wow there are some nice Kronies owned on this forum. I'm soooo curious to know what his small bodies sound like...

Default B Chas and LJ

I really love the looks of your Kronbauer that is such a pretty little girl and Larry it just seemed that was a longer time in between, but it makes perfect xense to me to have a limited build over a year, you only have the pressure that you put on yourself that way. And thats why he makes really awesome guitars. I almost considered buying one of his first small bodies that Peachlander was selling a while back but alas the lack of room keeps me in check along with my darling wife.ship

Cazon,

I'm glad you finally got your Kronbauer, as you were interested in the one I purchased. I was also very tempted to buy one of Trevor's koa bodies. I just love that sound. For what it's worth, we are siblings! My Kronie is #265, the one built just before yours. I'm guessing that my cedar top & EIR imparts a somewhat similar sound to your koa body with the spruce top. Congratulations!

Wow ,Great looking guitar.Trevor sent me a picture of a "koa" he had just finished, sitting on his bench, a few weeks back.I wish I'd archived the message,Might even be the same one.Real nice, great score mate.Another one for the B.C luthiers.Up and coming area to find a well constructed instrument.
Is it light?.I like the gentle curve on the bridge pins....that will save hassles in years to come.
Also seems "Koa is a Goa" at present, Or Maybe its a Ren Furguson Thing from 2006 ,then jumping ship to Guild ,Out comes Koa anni, and Ovation and Fender , Has Martin made a Koa this Year?
Anyhow that is one striking guitar.Congrats
