House of the Rising Sun. Just followed the diagrams for the chords in a song book (well at least the top 4 strings).

CSN, "Southern Cross." Still a favorite.

"I Walk the Line." Snippets of the C scale. Great way to start learning fingerstyle and notes on the fretboard.

I'm trying to learn Dust in the Wind, fingerstyle. Just for my own listening pleasure. If/when I learn it, it will be the first song I learned to play on the guitar. Does that count?

I can't remember for sure if it was wildwood flower or the old 12 bar blues thing (on two strings; bompa BOMPA bompa BOMPA) first. I think it was WF but both happened pretty close to the same time....

American Pie by Don McLean was the first one I tried to learn... Way to many chord changes and funny chord variations!

As far as singing a song and playing guitar - not a clue. I do know the first instrumental I pestered my teacher to teach, back as a 12 year old in the early '60s was "Walk Don't Run".

I know it was something by Creedence Clearwater Revival because I used their songbook to learn to play. I'm not sure which song I tackled first.
