Exclamation more info

Here is an answer I gave to a request e-mail today. There's nothing confidential so I'd rather share with the rest of the forum:

"The Tim Kills go for $2,000 for the WS model (without tailpiece) and $2,500 for the WSP (Tailpiece + S.Duncan installed pick up). According to my customers, they cost him $3,000 and $4,000 with shipping from Australia. Those are totally handmade. See Tim's website: http://www.timkillcustom.com/

Both are used and in consignment, so they don't really go under warranty. We control them and can insure that they are in good structural condition. We give a 7 days return policy on all gears sold through the store, so you can have a double check.

The WS was made in 2010, the WSP in 2011. My customer has two more still with him and is very serious with his instruments. They are both in mint condition.

They're both all solid Tasmanian Blackwood construction, with a very natural satin finish. You can definitely ell that the WSP is a better grade wood and is more resonant and more complex.
WSP: Birdseye maple fretboard / flamed maple bindings / Tailpiece / Maple floating bridge with metal saddle
WS: T.Blackwood Fretboard/maple binding/ Rosewood bridge (glued)

Any gauge in the 12-62 range should be OK., I wouldn't go higher. The WSP is currently set in G tuning with a John Pearse 17-62 weissenborn set. The WS is tune DADF#AD with a true medium (13-56) set."

I use John Pearce Weissenborn D tuning strings on my Kill.

Tim build great guitars and is very approachable. I've had mine nearly two years and its a great guitar, mine is all mahogany.

Jeff Lang and Xavier Rudd play them.

Default Weissenborn down under

Thanks for the insight. I've also seen pictures of John Butler with Tim. Do you know if he plays his instruments as well? The least i can say, even if I'm not a lapsteel player, those sound really sweet. Need to learn!

Just tune one into open D get a slide and you'll be hooked!

Not sure about John Butler but Harry Manx has one. If they were for sale in Aus they'd be snapped up quickly.
