Looking at: Tacoma DR-16C, Martin D-16T, and Alvarez-Yairi DY84
Any insights on these 3 models? All in the same price range. Haven't seen the discontinued Martin model at all out there and I don't come across pre-Fender Tacomas or Alvarez-Yairis too often.
If someone could give me their impressions on any or all of them, it would be appreciated. Thanks. |

I have a D-16GT and it's a nice guitar. Plays really well and sounds great. It's doesn't get much play since I got my HD-28 but it was my best guitar for a long time and I love it.

I think of those three, I'd choose the Martin for their warrantee.
I have a Tacoma and like it but it is an orphan now. I doubt Fender will honor the warrantee with anything more than a replacement Asian made guitar. Mine sounds great and seems to be improving (It's about seven years old now.) The music store where I bought it had about five Tacomas and mine was the only one that spoke to me. I wouldn't buy any of those guitars without playing them first. |

Of those I'd pick the Tacoma.
Some of the Tacomas had some finish issues, but if you find a clean one they will stay that way.
