Would you rather Choose?
If the "god" give you a gift
between "The best guitar technique on earth with good sounding vocal" Or "The best Vocal on earth with good guitar technique" I'm talking about the maximum potential that human can be. I probably choose 2nd one. what about you guys? |

i would get vocal, and meet a person who has best skill. and have him/her to play the guitar for me.

I'd take the vocal ... I'm primarily a singer, and I know that even with my mediocre talents as a guitarist/bassist/keyboardist I can hold a crowd a lot longer with my vocals than can a guitarist who can't or doesn't sing very well.

Whichever God decides is best for me. Best to let Him decide.

the voice, I think, partly because the average audience member would be more impressed by it. I think it takes another guitarist to appreciate the subtleties of great guitar work. Give me, oh, k.d. lang's voice and even average guitar skills, and I'd be thrilled.

At this stage of my life, my voice skills are right up there with Bob Dylan's, and my guitar playing technique is about the same as Buck Owens!
So....I'd opt for either.

The best vocal without a doubt. It's more "human" and people connect with that on a greater level I believe.

I wonder if I'm the only one who thinks this would be a curse and not a blessing.
I'll take neither. Singing's fun, but I have no desire to be a singer, nor does the music I love even have words, and if I could do it all on the guitar, what would I do everyday? The journey is the destination! |

I choose the "best vocal" as I feel a voice can move people through a wide range of emotions while telling a story. The guitar can become the accompanying vehicle in making a lovely sound.

Best and good either way would work just fine for me. If I just have to choose, then best vocal.

The vocal Route for sure.
A decent guitarist with a great voice has a much better chance of entertaining.

i couldn't agree more! after all, we don't know what the future may bring.
and this thread made me think a bit. i'm happy with my singing and my guitar playing. am i the best player ever? not even, but i'm where i want to be, to me the process of getting better is half the fun and satisfaction. if i had to choose, i'd go for best guitar technique, but i think this is a little like the tonerite - i'd prefer to let my guitars get where they're going naturally, and i feel the same about my voice and my playing. |

The playing ability without a moment's hesitation. I have no interest whatsoever in singing and often bemoan the fact (perhaps a bit tongue in cheek) that some otherwise great CDs are ruined with all that singing that drowns out the playing.
