Default J15 Jazzbo anyone have any info?

Been looking for a long time to snag one of these beauties and just never ever see them anywhere. Any insight would be nice just curious to know a little bit more about them. Price ranges, material, number made, etc...

Any help would be appreciated

Well, they are pretty rare and unfortunately, it seems there isn't too much known about them. I own one and am aware of four others (John Denver had one, Jason Maraz has one and I know 2 private indiviudals who have them).

It's been said that less than 50 were made, but no one can verify that fact. as far as their construction, they were either Indian Rosewood, or Brazilian (I've seen both) with spruce tops. The only variation that I am aware of has to do with the tuners - some were an art deco style and others were conventional buttons (like mine).

They all were cutaways and of course had the oval sound hole, oval markers and the stylized teardrop pickguard. I've posted pictures before, but here are a few more - best of luck in your quest!

Hmmm, interesting guitar. Not sure I can wrap my mind around that pickguard, though. May I ask what was the mystique around this model that they made it a ltd ed.?

Well, there really isn't much known about this model. They were supposedly made in late 1991 and 1992 (mine is a 1992) and the "lore" is that Bob wanted to develop a Jazz guitar, so they made the J15 and it has been dubbed the "Jazzbo" as it was one of Bob's pet projects. Evidently, it didn't sell well, either because the market for acoustic flat top jazz guitars was limited, it cost too much, or wasn't promoted well (perhaps all of the above).

It is a well-built guitar, rather heavy, but does have a very loud voice. Short of talking to Bob himself about this guitar, you'll not find much, if anything in writing about it I am afraid.
