Looking fantastic. I really like the back strip/end graft combination. Elegant. Keep the photos coming.

Wow, Jason always does amazing things with end wedges... I need to remember to take a ridiculous amount of pics of your end wedge and ask Jason way too many questions...

Because of the distance involved, most of the communication between me and Jason has necessarily been by email. I can tell you Jason writes the most incredibly responsive and detailed replies so you will not be disappointed by the degree of "luthier input" to your build.

Yes - the endgraft is not ridiculously complex, but it fits just so well. I was really concerned that the end graft and the back strip worked really well together from an aesthetic perspective, and Jason really came up with the goods. I was quite adamant that I'm a "less is more" guy - I don't like really complex decoration on a guitar. Getting the balance between something interesting and pleasing without being too distracting is very difficult, and of course people's personal tastes will vary. Jason aced it (it's Wimbledon over here!).

Further, Jason is very, very adamant that while the decoration is an important aspect of the guitar, and he enjoys doing this, his main priority is tone first, tone second, and then tone. Did I mention tone?

Of course the proof will be in the playing and that will (if all goes to plan) happen within a month...

Next pics will be the neck going on.

Cheers,
Steve

I don't actually have a build going on with Jason (I wish I did though): I'm just paying a visit to Jason to discuss guitars, a potential apprenticeship, etc.

I really like the way your guitar is turning out; if it's anything like the cutaway OM I played at Woodstock, you won't be disappointed.

That's a beautiful design Steve, and it'll look amazing once the finish is applied!

Okay guys - it's time to start counting this one down:

12 days to go before this beauty is delivered to me...

Here are the latest pics (don't forget, these are lagging behind how the guitar is now; for example I've been away this week and not able to upload them).

Time to get the headplate glued up:

Drilled for the machine heads (standard size Gotoh 510s):

And finally carved to Jason's specific design:

Cheers,
Steve

I bet this is going to sound amazing. I suspect that you're going to be a very happy man in a couple of weeks' time Steve.

10 days to go...

The neck is on the body!

If anyone doubts Jason has a big "stash", take a look at the background...

Closer view of the carbon fibre reinforcement:

Truss rod going into the neck:

All in place and the fingerboard patiently waiting...

Fingerboard is on!

Cheers,
Steve

8 days to go...

Why is this dude attacking my guitar with a chisel?

...and taking big lumps out of it (and his own finger given the rapidly improvised bandaging!)?

Doesn't look like a very comfortable neck profile to me!

That's much better!

Cheers,
Steve

Yeah - hadn't noticed his watch.

It could be either - he's had a flight to the UK booked for a while and the guitar has to be ready for that trip so I know that Jason has been putting in some very long days and weekends to get this one done.

cheers,
Steve
