Anyone (like me) using an external mic for guitar along with vocal mic with the Soloamp?
Looking to share experiences and gain insight. I used it for the first time in a gig (busy bar) set-up last week - positive, but I feel I could get it better. Anyone else? http://www.myspace.com/brendevereux http://www.brendandevereux.com |

Sort of.
We do a duo with 1 vocal mic, internal mics on both guitars (2) and two SoloAmps |

In my duo we use 1 SA so far with a mixer feeding one Ch. We fed both channels originally ( one each from a Harmony G output) but I wanted to try to do a better job of locally controlling EQ mostly for feedback. I can't always hear a balanced output since rooms and 'busy bars' aren't the best environment. Are you using both SAs as separate channels? Are you sending the monitor output between them?

Perhaps I should have asked if there are any solo singer/songwriters using two external mics with their Soloamp!

To me, one short coming of the Soloamp is that it doesn’t have a volume and gain control for each channel. I suspect that’ll be something they change in future models.
I don't sing, but I do use two mics with the Soloamp pretty often; one for my guitar and the other on either mandolin or upright bass. I think the trick -and I think this would apply to a singer too- is to use the same mics if at all possible. So for example if I use a fairly hot SD condenser on my guitar, but a dynamic on the mando (or voice for you) it’ll be very difficult or impossible to get the volume levels the same. The dynamic will have to have the gain close to maxed, and then still likely need a lot more volume from the master. Since the master also controls the channel with the hypothetical SD, that mic’s gain would need to be dramatically reduced, which isn’t so great... But if you have the same kind of mic you can treat the two mics as a unit, with slight adjustmeants if one instrument is a little louder acoustically, or if you tend to sing louder than you play guitar. Realized after I sent it I probably jumped all over the intent of your question!
