Default belt?

Has anyone found a good belt to wear while playing with a strap? Something without exposed metal, etc....

No belt maybe? I haven't worn one in ages......
You're worried about scratching the back of your guitar I take it? I've actually wondered if button up shirts are a bad idea. Wonder if buttons can cause scratches......

I always use this belt when I'm performing.

It's called a "No Scratch Belt". I can't remember the gentleman's name that makes them but he's a great guy. Here's a link to his website.

I just turn my belt so the buckle is on my left hip, may look a little funny but no scratchs on your guitar

I have a Western Buckle that is covered in leather.
It has never scratched my guitars.

I see a lot of men that do slide the buckle to the side of their pants.

Thanks Steve, it's just what I've been looking for and I ordered one. Good post "open strings", I never thought to ask.

With my big gut I can wear any belt I want to. The back of the guitar never gets within 4" of the buckle, kind of an organic scratch guard.

As mentioned the old trick is looping the belt so the buckle is over your left hip while playing, no scratches!

Also check police supply websites, they usually have a large assortment of buckleless trouser belts that are designed to be worn under the duty belts.

Not sure what that one in the pic costs, but do liek someone mentioned and check at a good gun shop or police supply. For well over 30+ years now I have worn belts that come from some of the better leather suppliers. They have NO buckle and use Velcro to secure. Which also makes them more easily adjustable. they cost about $25 bucks at our local gun shop and last a LONG time.

I first discovered these way back when, and bought them for all the reasons above. No scratch and adjustment etc. I didn't play guitar for over 30 years, but found I really liked the belts and kept wearing them. They also did not have a buckle to scratch the gas tank on my motorcycles etc.
Still swear by them. Good shops will have a selection of styles and sizes.

Highly recommended.

Yeppers. Works well, and who cares, eh? I also have had very good results with the "basketweave" style (they have some "give" and "take" to them) and a I have a couple with leather-wrapped buckles, so while they're solid, they aren't a metallic-hard.

You can also wear your guitar like the inestimable, now sadly-late, Nick Reynolds:

I've never had problem with buckle scratches, but I find that the nitrocellulose finish produces an unpleasant squeak when it rubs against belt leather.
