Default cargo as lone guitar?

hi every1. looking to replace my dreadnought to something smaller. possibly a cargo or a ga3. i only play for pleasure on the couch or sometimes outside. and financially only a 1 guitar person. im wondering if any1 has a cargo for their only guitar and how they feel about it. i live about 2 and a half hours from elderlys and probably taking a drive next week to try out both.

If I only had that amount of money available for a guitar, and wanted a nice small guitar that I could get comfortable with on a couch, I'd probably spend it on a Cargo.

I keep mine next to my computer at home . . . that way I can strum a bit when I get the urge, and not have to leave the computer.

Default The Cargo

I have a couple of Goodalls and a Collings and I find myself playing my Cargo most of the time because it sits out next to my desk. It's comfortable to play and the sound coming out of this little guitar is amazing- very full sounding and great playability for it's size.

I don't think I would be unhappy if this were the only guitar I owned.

I would sorely miss my McKnight MiniMac. But, it's definite that the Cargo is more concucive to being played anywhere, anytime, simply because I'm not worried about damaging it.

The Cargo is presently the only guitar I own (not counting one I have for sale, because of the Cargo) and probably the only one I will ever need. It's my go to at home guitar for the obvious reasons, small, comfortable, sounds great. It's my gig guitar because it has the electronics and is impervious to heat and humidity and the occaisional run in with whatever. So far other than the eye candy that a fine wooden instrument offers, this little black box fits the bill perfectly as my lone guitar. How much more can be said about these guitars? They're taking over the world!!!!!

That's funny! In these parts, you'd think so! Although I love my Cargo and it gets played much more than my Taylor or other guitars these days, I suspect another CA guitar I have on order, a 7iM-CE (tobacco burst), will become my main acoustic.

Not me. I keep the Cargo on my bed and it's one of my most played along with my Taylor GC4. However, if I could only have one guitar, it wouldn't be the Cargo. I'd purchase an OM/000 sized rosewood guitar for all around use. In that price range (probably less), the Guild GAD30R looks like a good one. If you've got the bucks, a Martin OM/000 rosewood does it for me.

Tom...I'm with you there...that 7iM Sunburst is one beautiful guitar! I would probably order one but I'm sure I'd be in for quite a wait. I e-mailed Cannon to see if he wanted to sell his and he just laughed! Please send pics and a review of yours when it gets here.

Well Jim, you must have planted some huge seed with Jim Cannon, 'cause his 7iM is in fact, for sale. I'm flabbergasted!!!

As for mine on order, I will post pics and a review. I still have a while to wait! Man, if you buy Cannon's, you'll have one before me!

As you mentioned; definately worth taking a drive to Elderly first.

Going from a dread to a Cargo is a major reduction in size and may throw you a bit. I just received my Cargo yesterday and although impressed I'm pondering the investment from a financial perspective.

One note I will make is the neck is more comparable to a Taylor than a Larrivee IMO. I own an L-03R and I must just be used to that neck now. (The Cargo & Taylor have more of a curve to the fretboard top, the Larrivee fretboard is flatter).

Having said all this, the sound of the Cargo is impressive and would mike a fine couch guitar.
