Default really diggin these Red Bears!!!!!

I got a couple more Red Bear classic lights (1.00mm) today and gotta tell you I really like the crisp clean tone you get from them. It also feels like I'm not working as hard picking leads and strumming, letting the pick do all the work............if you get a chance to try one do it..........

What makes them so expensive? Did I read it right? $35 a pick?

i talked to the owner matt goins on the phone and he said that the material cost 4200 dollars for a 10"by 10" by1/2" square. either way ive been playing mine for weeks and absolutely no wear. the pick also has no string noise (no sound when you slide it against the strings) and is slick off the strings. of course the sound is also very warm/ clear.

yea 35 is a lot for a pick. but what is that compared to a guitar? its funny seeing people play 5000+ dollar guitars with cheap dunlop picks.

it might be worth it to you, it might not be.

I agree they are good picks. I used to use fender or any plastic pick, then I switched to Red Bear, I never looked back.

At a gig, a mandolin player was sitting in with me and let me use his "real" deal pick. The real McCoy. It was love at first strum. Magic. It felt like silky, glass and the tones were unbeivable!

3 Months later all my Red Bears broke within a week of each other and I made the switch and I do not regret it. Mine come from recycled antique combs boxes.

$35.00 is a ridiculous amount to pay for a pick, were talking about Red Bears here anyway, if you wanna talk Blue Chips start your own thread....j/k
I may try a Blue Chip someday but right now I'm happy with these Red Bears!!!!!

I don't use a pick that much. When I do, it's used very carefully and it is a Red Bear.

I know this is terribly gauche and self-serving but if someone is looking to try out the Red Bear picks on the cheap I have three little words for you.

I'm still waiting for the postman to show Louie.
Fortunately, it's not keeping me awake at night but I am looking forward to the experience.

I ordered mine a while ago from redbear, they said it might take 10-15 days before shipping... hopefully I'll get it soon. I bought the tri-tips with grip holes.
Hopefully those grip holes won't affect the durability of the pick...probably don't need the grip holes, but whatever... looking forward to receiving it soon.

Dunlop picks may be cheap compared to Red Bear or Blue Chip- but many great players have been using them for a long time now. I think the Ultex series are great for the price. I read an interview in Premier Guitar with Jim Dunlop and he feels that material is very close to tortoise.

So please don't slam my cheap Dunlops- I like em lots (doesn't everyone have a yellow tortex somewhere? I also like the Clayton ones with the sandy fish on it because I have butter fingers...
