Default 2010 Todd Rose Headwaters, Bearclaw sitka/Ziricote, bargain price

“Wow! It sounds as good as it looks! The tone, response, clarity… flawless… exciting! It’s been a long time since I’ve played an instrument like this.” Alex Bevan (www.alexbevan.com)

“When I first play an unfamiliar guitar, I’m fishing for what it wants to do. With this guitar, I can play jazz, blues, a variety of fingerstyle material, with or without picks… it all sounds good!” Paul Asbell (www.paulasbell.com)

“Lively sound… great sustain… well balanced… Nice!” Kinloch Nelson (www.kinlochnelson.com)

This very distinctive guitar, made in 2010, is currently available for the bargain price of $4250 [NEW LOWER PRICE]. ***UPDATE: PLEASE SCROLL DOWN TO MY NEWEST POST***

The unique Headwaters body has a 14" wide lower bout, placing it in the range of concert and grand concert size guitars. It has a powerful, focused, contemporary sound, both rich and bright, well-balanced, articulate, with plenty of headroom, a strong and defined bass, robust and colorful midrange, and seriously meaty trebles reminiscent of a great acoustic archtop. But listen for yourself - click on the link below for a short video of Paul Asbell playing the heck out of "Key to the Highway" on this guitar at the 2010 Newport Guitar Festival. Even with the crude recording quality of this video, the beautiful and commanding voice of this exceptional guitar comes through clearly (thanks to Paul's masterful playing).

More video of Paul playing this guitar at that show, demonstrating the versatility of the instrument with various playing styles:

Please also scroll down this thread for a link to video of Michale Chapdelaine playing this guitar.

The body shape places the bridge in the center of the lower bout for a full tone similar to guitars with 12 frets to the body -- but the neck joins the body at the 15th fret for improved upper fret access. Upper fret access and soundboard motion are also enhanced by the elevated/floating fretboard extension.

650mm (25.6") scale. 1 3/4" nut. 2 1/4" string spacing at the saddle.

Bear claw sitka soundboard; ziricote back, sides, fretboard, bridge, and headplates; walnut neck and bindings; eucalyptus burl, ebony, and maple accents; evo gold frets. 15 frets to the body, elevated/floating fretboard extension, side sound port. Schaller gold tuners with ebony knobs. Custom Ameritage hardshell case.

Thanks for looking and listening. Please contact me if you're interested. I'll be happy to answer any questions you may have. I look forward to hearing from you.

Thanks, Matthew! No wonder nobody snatched up this guitar yet!
I'll see what I can do to fix the problem.

Here's the link I referred to above -- Michael Chapdelaine playing a lovely piece of his own composition on this guitar (you'll need to skip forward to about half way through this video, or listen first to him playing his cool version of "Dock of the Bay" on another guitar of mine):

***UPDATE***

This guitar, whose name is Bonnie*, by the way, is no longer for sale. Bonnie has had time to do some soul searching, and she has found a new purpose... a higher calling, you might say. Out of respect for the rules of this forum, I can't say more here, but you can find out all about it (and perhaps even play a role in the fulfillment of Bonnie's destiny) by hopping on over to my facebook page:www.facebook.com/luthipoeticmusicographyartworksbytoddrose
I hope you'll check it out.

*I enjoy naming my guitars as I build them. It gives me a way to refer to them as I work (rather than just "this guitar" and "that guitar") and fosters a more personal relationship with them. This one was built side-by-side with another Headwaters, so the two became known affectionately as Bonnie and Clyde.

While Bonnie is a straight-ahead Headwaters six-string, Clyde is a modified version with 10 strings in 5 courses, a new take on the Irish bouzouki that was commissioned by a fine Irish player. More about Clyde here:
