I agree with you, the Beneteau’s harmonics pop out more and the bass is more clear, but the Larrivee has a deeper body so a touch more power. The l-05 has new strings in that recording, whereas the Beneteau had kind of dead strings for the first and second version videos. Thanks for the feedback man

Hey Dustin,
Maybe because my son works in the space industry, while listening to your song I pictured Elon Musk’s Tesla roadster flying through space. Hence my title: “Trip Around the Sun”, or maybe “Star Travel”. You get the idea! Great composition, great playing. I really enjoyed it! |

Well I like the tone signature of the Larv better but I'd say for all the new fangled finger popping pinchy harmonic stuff the Bene is probably better and or it picks up the harmonics better.Still good job, thanks for the comparison.

Quote:
In the first approximately 20 bars, tapping my foot and humming to that melody is what hooks me and (for my ears) is what I want the arrangement to come back to after the percussive and harmonic interludes. It’s like that first 20 bars is the meat and the subsequent percussion and harmonics are the sauce and spice that add more flavor but you still want the “meat” to stand out. There are a couple times about 1/2 and 3/4 through the song where l was ready to hear the “meat” again but you went a few more bars with some harmonics, percussion, or a different riff. Try tapping your foot and humming along and see if you find there are parts where you want to resolve back sooner to what you hear in the first sections of the song. The jazz cats might have a totally different opinion! I do like where you are going with it. Your technique is impressive. I wish I could stretch my fretting hand into some of the grips you make look easy.

Nice job and I swear I hear the flavor of a Michael Hedges tune; Bensusan.
