Default Martin Ti strings breaking...(satisfactory conclusion)

So I teach math, but have students who play guitar. One in particular has just bought, installed -- following instructions to a T -- a new set of Martin Titanium Core acoustic strings, and had the A string break overnight. He replaced it with another brand string same gauge, then the next morning three more strings had broken. So all but the G and the high e broke. He emailed Martin after the first break. They emailed him back days later offering to replace the A string. I'm not sure if he had since updated them on the other three.
Nevertheless, $39.99 for a set of strings and having one break and only being offered a single replacement seems very frugal to me for a company with the reputation Martin has. If that's the way they roll, perhaps I'll never give them any more of my business.

I've had similar issues with SIT strings and they sent me three free sets and a polishing kit! D'Addario has hooked me up when I'd had trouble with Players Circle points. As for now, unless they remedy the situation in a positive manner, I think I may have to pass on Martin products.

Not saying it can't happen but there's something about the word 'student' and a total of 4 broken strings that doesn't fit with my Titanium experience.
Been on my guitar since June 8th last year.
Just played it again about 25 minutes ago.
Still going really well.

Well, I'm only on a second set, but the first lasted 4 1/2 months and the second set has been on a month no issues with breakage.
As far as the way Martin has responded, if they only knew of one string breaking and they replaced it, that seems fair. I would hope with the knowledge of three more breaking they would send out a set.
Something doesn't seem right with this string breakage issue.

I’ve had one Titanium string break due to a manufacturing defect (broke at a low stress point during initial tune to pitch).
Martin replaced. No further issues.

I'm thinking that 4 broken strings out of one set of any major brand of strings just might have a little something to do with operator error...

I have them on 3 guitars. 5 months no issues. Great feel. Good sound.

I had the A string break on my set too, after about 3 weeks of play. I never break strings and certainly not the A string. I usually go twice that long before I change strings. I wasn't a big fan of them to begin with so I didn't bother writing Martin to get replacements. I just changed them all.

So Martin will be sending him out a replacement set. Glad it worked out. So it looks like I'll continue to buy SPs, Lifespans, Marquis, and day dream over a 000-18e.

Can I suggest you 'supervise' the string change just in case he's doing something incorrectly?

I offered to string it up for him, but he's gotta learn in his own
(It's actually my old guitar--Yamaha LL16M A.R.E)

He's got GAS bad. Only a year in and up to 6 or 7 guitars already.

I will try to watch him do it, though.

One thing I would point out about these strings... they don’t respond well to kinking them, so don’t go crazy over bending in the ball end to avoid the pin.

You might be onto something there Kip.
That might go some way into explaining the unusual /unique ball end Martin uses on these strings.

He got the new set, I installed them. No problems.

Boy do they sound good on his Yamaha LL16M A.R.E.

That's great to hear.
Just put my second set on my Pono Dread. They too sound great.
I figure I can afford or choose to afford them on that guitar every six months.

Mine are still playing well and sounding great.
I keep waiting for something to happen to make me take them off - but so far so good.
I do notice that incredible ability to stay in tune has slowly given away and they do need a tweak now like any other string - and they can be a little slow to respond but they do come back to pitch and stay there fine.
