Default Amber nitro and mahogany

What does the amber finish do to typical mahogany?
I'm having a hard time visualizing this.
I know I'd need to test, but don't have "test scraps" or "test nitro"

Does it turn it that reddish color like the D-15m?

Reddish stain does that.

10th picture down, on the top of the reference sheet is amber in different concentrations applied to mahogany.

Same photo 5th row down you can see what franks referring to, influence of red applied to the surface.

Stain applied to the wood directly or mixed into the the shellac also gives a different shade.

Martin Mahogany uses a very dark pore filler and a stain under their finish to achieve the color you see.

Unstained mahogany is beautiful - but it's a lighter brown than most people are used to.

Thanks
