Default Bernard Hopkins

I just finished watching the 49 year old, that's right, 49 year old, Bernard completely school a 30 year old boxing champion tonight to unify the Light Heavyweight title. It was actually pretty amazing to watch. Anyone else watch the fight?

I did not realize he was still throwing leather. I watched him years ago and he was one great fighter. He must have gotten even more ring wisdom to be in the ring at his age. Kudos!!

Obviously he's a little slower, but he still had everything. He only got hit 67 times in a 12 round fight. I'm surprised a 49 year old boxer who's still legitimate isn't getting more attention. He still has his short right cross:

Wink

He's a great one! Light Heavies are the most dangerous fighters in the ring. I bet the rest of the fight clubbers are thinking..."don't book him against me!"

Maybe Rocky 5 was an inspiration? Saw Pacquiao the other weekend though. Still very good but definitely older.

I thought he was getting old 15 years ago when I became less of a boxing fan than MMA fan . Yes, move over Original George Foreman !

I did not watch the Hopkins fight ; there was a UFC show on , and the main event was a schooling, too.

Yes, I watch every UFC as well and saw all those fights. However, the UFC ended early that night and the Hopkins fight was on after the UFC, so I got to see both.

By the way, I think Cain will have no problem Werdum and he would have less of a problem with Browne.

I also the Pacquiao fight as well. I thought he's still pretty sharp. Although Pac has a glaring fault. He always rushes in head down. That's what got him KO'd brutally against Marquez. If he ever fought Mayweather, I would think he would need to correct this or else Mayweather is too good not to do the same as Marquez did to Pacman.

Marquez 4 may be more of a reality than Mayweather but we'll see. Maybe Floyd will take on Pac now that Pac is no longer as fierce as he was in 09 or so.

I couldn't argue that. When Cain hits Fabricio, which he will do (unlike Browne) it will be a different fight . Browne was just too slow and he paid dearly for it. I'm interested to see Cormier at 205 !

49, eh? Well Bernard Hopkins is one fighter who can do it. Talk about "the manly art of self-defense" -- Hopkins typically starts out slow, fighting defensively, and frustrates his opponents into making mistakes. Once they do, he lowers the boom. Very smart, very skilled, very dangerous fighter... and he's kept himself in great shape all these years, too.
