Default The Good Lovelies

If you like tight 3 part harmonies and attractive ladies playing guitar (a mahogany/spruce Martin), banjo and mandolin, check out The Good Lovelies.

We saw them Wednesday night and they put on an outstanding show. They trade instruments and lead vocals on just about every song. One also plays a variety of percussion instruments. They have a male upright bass player. The patter between songs is funny, sometimes a tad risque, and often appropriate for the next number. The show was 2 hours with a 20 min intermission and they "man" their merchandise table after the show if you want to chat or buy a CD or t-shirt.

This was the last show of their current tour. One looked to be about 7 months pregnant so I suspect they'll be off for a while. If they come to your area, they are well worth checking out.

I like it. Interesting blending of styles you wouldn't think would work together but do.
