Default Lyric Classical review

New member, Don Mitchell in Portland, Oregon here. I recently installed a Lyric Classical in my Cordoba C10 (spruce top, rosewood back and sides, ebony fingerboard) and I've made a series of review videos for anyone interested. I found a lot on YouTube on the Lyric steel string but very little on the classical model. My first video compares the Lyric to a Miniflex Model 1 which I had installed in the guitar previously. I was not really pleased with the sound of the Lyric and, consulting with LR Baggs, began moving it around. The second video compares once again the Miniflex, then 3 different Lyric mic positions, then Then an external medium diaphragm condenser mic (a Sure BG5.1). In my final video I have moved the mic to my favored position (just in front of the bridge plate to the treble side of the center fan brace) and mixed the signal, in 3 different examples, with 3 different external microphones. Mixing the Lyric with an external mic returns the best results in my opinion, the best of each: the volume and feedback resistance of the Lyric and the warmth and clarity of an external mic. Here are the links to the videos:

P.S. My thanks to the very detailed and comprehensive commentary by AlohaChris on the subject of the use of microphones in live performance with acoustic guitars.

Although pretty gainy in these videos, I'm very impressed with the miniflex. The Lyric not so much.
The miniflex model 1 looks simple to install, sounds natural. Works for me. Nice video of it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xKN58SigzVw

I agree that the Mini-Flex sound really quite good. A little EQ might get the highs to sparkle a bit.

But Don, the real question is how does the Mini-Flex handle feedback?

I have read that they are not very good in gig situations. I have never tried one but the installation is pretty clean.
