That sounds great! 12 or 14 fret?

Thats a good question Neil, I really have not decided yet on that one. Really any of the three 12, 13 or 14 fret to bodies have been in the back of my mind. It depends on the scale and layout in the end for me. Im thinking of starting a thread on OO thoughts and input. Getting people's thoughts on the ideal or dream OO they would want if they had the $$

A few more shots of progress and now the body is together.
I didn't get any good shots of the Adirondack before, so here are a couple that show off how nice this set is. Getting set up to cut the end graph. End graph in and Im using some of the highlights of orange to go with the streaks of orange in the rest of the body. Last edited by D.Kwasnycia; 01-11-2017 at 10:17 PM. |

Understated elegance - class as usual!

I would change .... nothing.
Love the contrast of the maple binding. It already looks superb but I'm keen to see the finished job. Beautiful. What tuners are you planning on using?

Thanks Bruce, I know what you mean and finished Maple binding up against the Brazilian will look like marble. The machine heads will be Gotoh 510's with gold and ebony buttons. Stay tuned, she will be done soon!

Perfect, exactly what I would have chosen.

Ok, finally getting back to posting pics of this guitar. It will be finished ready for Lacquer in two days.
Here is the starting of the neck. Glueing the rear head plate on the headstock. Getting ready for the binding on the neck. Gluing o the finger board. Getting ready to glue on the headstock overlay. |

Very nice, Denis. I love how you do your laminated necks and from trying it myself I see how you worked around some of the pitfalls that I seem to have fallen into. I see now that it makes a lot of sense to glue everything up before cutting the final shape.
I'm especially interested in seeing details of that back plate. I'm assuming that there's going to be a volute? Did you have to bend the veneer on a pipe or is it flexible enough to just glue to the neck as-is?

Thank you! The back plate does get bent on an iron to make it easer to glue up. No sense in putting stress into it. There is no Volute, I personally don't like them. Here is an example of one that is finished. One thing to keep in mind that I have found is to make sure you know the machine head max and min head thickness that is required for the machine heads being used. I taper mine, so knowing this helps to know the plate size for from and back along with final machining of the neck blank. |
