Unhappy looks like my kid won't be getting a walter white action figure this christmas

Breaking Bad dolls removed from Toys 'R' Us website after mom's petition

U.S. retail giant Toys 'R' Us has removed from its website action figures depicting characters from the award-winning AMC show Breaking Bad, which is about a high school chemistry teacher who turned to meth cooking for the purpose of covering his hospital bills.

This doll depicting the show's main character Walter White in his amoral, drug-dealing "Heisenberg" persona comes complete with hat, sunglasses, revolver and a bag of the show's characteristic blue crystal meth.

I question, why they would sell something as this in the first place?

Did they actually intend these dolls to be sold to kids? I don't know of any one that would have allowed their kid to watch the show, much less buy them an action figure.

I would think these were intended for adults that are obsessed with the show and collecting anything that has to do with it.

I loved Breaking Bad and it is the only show I've ever watched where I never missed an episode...I made sure that I was always unbooked on Sunday night at 10:00. I still have no interest in an action figure or any other collectable stuff related to the show.

I would think that the market for these dolls is so small that it would not be worth making them.

i don't think they were intended for kids. i read another article where toys r us stated they were in the adult action figure section (i didn't know there was an adult section to toys r us).

but i would definitely think there would be a market for breaking bad memorabilia.

here's some more, including plush toys:

Pretty sure most comic book shops will carry them.

Entertainment Earth has them.

Not something I would ever get for a kid, but I can see how fans of the show might want to have one.

Oh yeah ! I'm not much on ornaments and nick nacks, but I'd find a shelf space for one o them.

I doubt if I'm really gonna bother to go looking for one tho'.

Everyone does know that was a COMEDY show don't they ?

Drama, yes,,, for adults only, yes, but essentially a very black comedy.

I just don't get this glorification of criminals and gangters.

Sad.

It was a comedy Andy. Honestly. Anyone who took that seriously was missing all the brutal, but great, gags.

Anyway, you like to glorify them yourself, when you perform "Compadres in the Old Sierra Madre". Mmmmm ?

The show didn't glorify the criminal lifestyle. It was a cautionary tale of what can happen when we start to weave a tangled web of lies and deceit. He ruined his life and several other lives around him through his greed and ego.
It was an excellent show and superbly acted by a great cast.

I don't understand anyone wanting an action figure, though. I'm not a collector or nick nack type of guy.

As I said above I hope no one is buying these things for their kids.

Maybe adults could keep these dolls on a shelf to remind them of the consequences if they get the notion that they want to "Break Bad".

The adult veiwership for Breaking Bad is considerably larger than the adult viewership for My Little Pony. My Little Pony makes millions each year in toys sales solely from adults buying for themselves. While I find it surprising that so many adults like My Little Pony, I don't find it surprising that there is a very profitable market for toy-like merchandise for adult shows.
