If you're more interested in their music than their lives, try "Songwriting Secrets of the Beatles" by Dominic Pedler. It starts off pretty basic, and there are typographical mistakes in the book. I think it was written as a series of magazine columns, I'm not sure of that, but it can be a little repetitive as well.

I haven't read a many rock biographies or autobiographies, but it's more informative than Keith Richards' Life or Shakey.
