Soundholes. They are irrelevant and ugly. Seriously, who came up with the idiotic idea to cut a big hole in the middle of a beautiful soundboard. Was it that CF Martin guy?

Gloss top, satin back and sides. Why, what on earth is the point? Do one or the other by all means but a mix of the two just grates on me.

Open pore, minimalist 'finishes' on necks. I had a National Style 1 Tricone and the neck felt agricultural and amateurishly finished.

Poorly fitting bridge pins that stick up; have Martin figured this out yet?

Cutaways on dreads; ugly, ugly, ugly. Actually cutaways on flat tops bug me anyway!

'Stratabond' necks. Dear god, if there was ever an abomination...

Stratobonds are ok on a Framus, part of the teutonic charm, otherwise..pox on your house.

Breedloves are the ultimate abomination to design. These are design affectations represented as necessary for achievement of their tonal vision.
I am not referring to traditional looking Breedlove guitars.. I am speaking of the Spock Boxes. The ones with pointy stuff. They defy that form follows function. No one else seems to agree among guitar makers and few buyers.

I will admit I have played but one, years ago, to satisfy myself that the hideosity did in fact not contribute to, or create, some celestial awakening.
Since that date, I cannot get close enough to one as my complete repulsion to them overcomes any potential aural orgasm. . Put on your tennis shoes, pack your bags and your Breedlove, the comet is coming.

If they were the end all be all to guitars, they would sell and the company would still be in the hands of the founder, titular head, and chief designer. They are sale proof. I would be embarrassed to own and or hold or play one.
My opinion.

If you like them, and own one, I applaud you.

Purpleheart, anywhere, anytime. Pinnacle of bad taste.

Incidentally in Colombia and other parts of northern So America it is called NAZARENA and its principle use is truck beds, railroad ties, pilings, foundation lumber etc.

And a clear concise explanation of the guitar designed and used by Abel Carlevaro.

Same here regarding non-wood body binding. Kept me from buying a Martin D-28 in the early 80's (got my Alvarez Yairi DY-75 instead), and countless Collings that I otherwise loved.

Never cared for abalone/mother of pearl inlays anywhere other than fingerboard dots and the rosette if not overdone.

I'm a wood guy! Heck, I put wood buttons on my tuners.
