Is my Fishman Loudbox Mini broken?
So I turn it into the middle for the master volume and turn up the gain slightly and it produces this kind of broken t.v sound. When I turn up the gain 75% it produces a loud vibrating howl sound. Even if I'm not playing my guitar, and when I do it's insufferable. If I play the D string, it vibrates a loud sound and seems to last forever. Is this normal? If so, how do I fix it?

Generally, I find more issues with PA's, amps and other amplification systems have more to do with where you are playing them than with the system. I would take it outside or at least to a much larger room/venue and evaluate it there. You may be playing in a room that is not optimum for your set up.

I own a loudbox mini and never encountered what you described…
Can you describe what a broken t.v. sound is more? I can’t even envision it Based on what you described…it sounds like some sort of feedback issue. It might be something in the room is amplifying and resonating at a natural frequency that is interfering with your unit/setup. As Paster Steve mention…move to a new location with it and see what happens. If your gain or master volume is too high…it will produce a high pitch squeal – that’s feedback Did you also try the phase button? It does wonders for feedback. As far as “fixing” it, it might be cost prohibitive, and getting a new unit might be the best option if it is indeed broken.

I think you are dealing with two separate common problems.
Depending on where the amp is or has been, it can get moisture and or dust build up on the electronics. I took my Loudbox Artist apart and sprayed electronics cleaner on the circuit board and fixed the symptom you describe (broken tv static). The other rumbling and vibrating sounds (especially when playing certain notes) are feedback. There is a feedback control and a phase switch on my Loudbox; if the Mini has the same controls, you should experiment with these tools to treat the problems you describe. Mike |

I'm not sure what you might be playing that you need to turn the gain to 75%, is this common?
Even with a passive SD sound hole pickup I've never needed to go or gone past half. Definitely sounds like some kind of feedback. |

If not feedback, it could be a short in the guitar cord - try a different cord before deciding it is the amp.

Try turning it up like that with no guitar connected. If it doesn't make the noise the amp isn't broken and you are getting feedback. You need to adjust the tone controls to reduce the gain at the resonant frequency that is causing the feedback. Here's a good method.
1. Start with the tone controls at flat (straight up). 2. Pluck each string one at a time and listen to the relative volume level of each. If one stands out much louder, adjust the tone controls one at a time while plucking that string and see which one affects the level the most. Turn the control down until the volume is the same as the other strings. Adjust for the most natural sound that sounds like your guitar un-amplified. This should take care of the feedback and give you better sound.

If you bought it at a Guitar Center, you might want ask them if you can come back by with your amp and have someone there help you with operation. Not every GC has someone that can actually help but some do. Without more information, from your description it sounds like you may be having operator issues.

I'd say that you ought to go to GC, with your amp and guitar and plug into one of their floor models and see if the problem is the same with that. If it is, your amp is fine, if not, return the amp on the spot. GB has a 45 day return policy and will send and receive warranty repairs if the condition of the amp makes it unreturnable.

I just want to throw something else out there, is it happening on more than 1 guitar? I would want to make sure the pickup on your guitar isn't the problem.
