Default Guild GAD M20 vs Martin 000RS1 opinions

My son really loves my 1962 Guild M20 and his other fave after that is my vintage Martin 000-28. He likes the smaller bodies, as do I. But he is a college student and I want to help him find a much less expensive guitar that captures the tonal characters of the M20. I don't know much about the GAD series fro Guild but that they are an offshore version. I recently was also looking at the Martin 000RS1. I am looking to possibly find a used model before he heads back to school this fall.

Does anyone have some insights on one or both of them models?

• Guild GAD M20
• Martin 000RS1

Thanks!

Alvarez Masterworks series would be a good option too. Solid African hog with a semi-gloss finish. They are around 600+/-.

I've tried them both. Both are great quality at a reasonable price. I preferred the sound of the Guild myself. The base on the Martin I played was a little muddy. Could have been the strings but I'm not sure. Either way you can't go wrong.

The GAD series was a pretty good guitar for the money.

Guild just came out with the NEW version of their off shore line called "The Westerly Collection"

The prices are very competitive and they even have arch backed models.
