Default I want to play like this!

I feel that it's too late for me. Been picking all these years and the fingers don't seem to want to cooperate. Is it really possible?

He's a prodigy and plays really well.

You should go for it. I don't know your current level, but regardless, I'd guess any adult with moderate abilities could play like this with some dedication and hard work.

I think the kid is impressive and I'm sure he'll become a killer player.

However for the time being I find his playing average at best. It's cute to see such a young player perform at a decent level but if he were an adult playing like that no one would care.

So yes, I think most average folks could achieve this level with a bit of hard work and dedication.

That kid is amazing. My faves are his versions of Bob Marley's "No Woman, No Cry" and the Beatles' "Come Together."

Wouldn't it be great if Clapton would chime in about now with a comment?

Of course. Like TE told me: WORK WORK WORK
So the older you are (I am getting 50 next year) the more you need to play to make your finger doing things smooth and easy. The arrangement is not very demanding, so if you work concentrated on it, it should work out fine.

BTW: I like EC Version much better, but Sungha is a great talent!

You're kidding right? I know many adults who can only strum a few chords and other adults think they're great. This kid plays full chord melodies, etc. Even as an adult, I would gladly trade my abilities for his....

Just my 2 cents.

Ditto on that!

Also Clapton's version is great because of the words. I'd like to see Clapton play a chord melody version.

btw I have a dvd with Clapton called Live At Montreaux ( or something like that) where he is playing with some heavies and actually looks like a fish out of water (IMHO).

I certainly wouldn't call Sungha's playing "average", but his skills are often blown way out of proportion. A quick reference to the sound files/videos of the original artists he emulates will put things into perspective.

Yes, I know he's just a kid (and a million times better than I was at that age!). But if I'm looking for "education" rather than just "entertainment", I'd rather listen to the best

He is not average for HIS age of course, but certainly average as a gutiar player. If you never heard of him play before and just heard him (not watched him) on a CD or radio you would think he's an average. If you don't then you need to raise your standards little bit. He is great for his age though. We'll see what he comes up with as far as his own stuff when he grows up.
Just my opinion.

The kid is good and no doubt will get better! What's neat is that he seems somewhat engaged in his playing unlike the countless young Suzuki-method violin phenoms who rattle off a lot of great playing while looking around the room, seemingly thinking about the last episode of Dragonball Z. Okay! Okay! So I'm envious! They say practice makes perfect and I have a lot of practicing to do! So, excuse me if you will ...

Regards,
