Yeah. The ES-335 is one of those "before-I-die" guitars. I am leaning toward the sunburst or ebony.
BTW, Clapton should have stuck with Gibson.

The John Mayall/Eric Clapton Bluesbreaker album set a standard for modern blues players and for the Gibson Les Paul played over a Marshall. I also would like to add Peter Green's Les Paul blues sound. BTW, Green's Les Paul is owned and played now by Gary Moore, who, after Cream broke up, toured with Bruce & Baker. Anthony, I believe Clapton's guitar in the picture is a ES355.

I believe you are correct. The fretboard enlays give it away!

The current historic ES355:
Interesting that this is one of the few Gibsons with a first position marker.

There are exceptions. The ES355 also came as a non-stereo guitar. It's a rare model. Please, read more on that here. Considering the photo of Clapton, which clearly is from the sixtieth, I'm sure that's what it is.

mmmmm. I need one, but its gotta be red. After watching a lot of Warren Haynes, I just think a 335 NEEDS to be red.

Jazzrat, I couldn't agree with you more, we own six. My wife has the Starfire Special (Digsby & SCs) in Tobacco Burst. I'd like to add a T-400 in Red or Tennesee Orange. Do you have any sound clips of the trio?

For blues I prefer the long scale of a Fender ever so slightly, a bit more tension in the notes....or something. Still want a 335 myself, had a few copies in the past. BTW, i'm new around here, what does this "GAS" mean? |
