1940 Kalamazoo Archtop at Guitar Center Pasadena
I played a 1940 Kalamazoo archtop on sale for $700 at Guitar Center Pasadena today. Seems in pretty good shape, tho someone wrote their initials on the top sometime in the last 74 years. I didn't have a tape measure with me, but I believe it was the 16 inch, not the 14-¾.
It played pretty well, but didn't really grab me.

My first and for many years only guitar was a late 30's Kalamazoo arch-top. It was a hand-me-down when I was 10 years old. I loved it because it was a gift from my great aunt. Her brother had played in a band in the 40's and it was his. I never really liked playing it though. It always had this nasal sound that I just couldn't appreciate. After almost 40 years of having it, I let it move on. Sometimes I'm sorry but it was time to let go.

I'll check their used listings and see if it's there.
