Put a Colosi Saddle in my K26ce
After getting the saddle from Bob about 3 weeks ago (I think it arrived the day after I ordered it) I finally had time and felt good enough to take on the task of putting the saddle in my K26.
Over the time I've had the K26 it has darkened in tone quite a bit. I've tried a couple of different types of strings (more to come also) but I did want to brighten it up a bit. After emailing Bob a couple of times I settled on the West African Hard Ivory saddle. Installation was pretty straight forward. Probably took an hour or so to sand and measure and sand some more and test and sand and... well you get the idea. All in all it went in pretty well. One false start where I had to pull it back out and bring it down just a touch more but overall it was very simple and ended up pretty sweet. The sound didn't change drastically but subtly from the Tusq that came with the K26. It sound maybe 10-20% brighter to my ear which is really just about perfect. All in all if you are considering a different saddle, contact Bob and work through with him what you are trying to accomplish. He was most helpful and very responsive and his product is great! -Dave

Hi Dave:
I've done a couple from him as well. Great guy to work with. You're much faster than me :-) Enjoy!

Got my antiqued bone saddle in the other day and should finish shaping it tonight. Took a while since all I had was 800 grit sandpaper! Oh well, I'll have the shiniest underside of my guitar saddle this side of the Euphrate

Funny, I was just cutting up bone saddle stock for electric guitar nuts that I got from Bob. Very consistent and hard, great stuff.

I'm hoping my Colosi saddle shows up in the mail tonight for my VAOM-06. And the wife is out of town, so I can work peacefully on my new saddle without any "did you really need that?" grief.
