It was a long time ago back in the late '50s, but I think the first "real" song I learned that wasn't out of the first Mel Bay guitar method that made its debut around '57 was "Aura Lee." It was that or "Green Grow the Lilacs."

I'm seeing some great first songs here, BTW. So cool.

I can't remember the first songs and riffs I learned, but for a VERY long time the only song I could play and sing the whole way through was "Tell Me Why" by Neil Young.
