Pretty old thread, relatively speaking.. My .05 is if yer a fan of guitars, the build, the woods, the tone, don't get a Fluke unless you get one handed to you for practically free. Sure, good intro, etc, but the necks are a little disconcerting feel-wise. Just my 5, so grain of salt yadayada, nice TRAVEL ukes for guitar guys.

Any newer known company or, in the case of MIM, seller, will nowadays offer a decent uke for a decent price. Sopranos or bari you can ALWAYS find a good Favilla on eBay for that, and soprano Favilla are mostly excellent and should be under 2, but are worth more, imho. Mainland, Pono, Kala...the list is long, but first uke, if you are as described above, get wood and pick the nicest looking known brand.
