Do you have a "2 AM" friend? - guys only poll

Perhaps an unusual thread, but I'm taking an informal poll regarding guys having close guy friends. No offense to female AGFr's - it just seems that women are more prone to having close female friends vs. guys.

So here is the question: If you are a guy, do you have a very close - "2am" guy friend? Someone who you would call at anytime of the day, who you speak with often and share life with often? To be clear, this is a friend, nothing more.

Maybe, but I won't have them long if I call them at 2 AM. In my demographic, phones ringing at 2AM mean "somebody died".

HA! True - the "2am" is really meant as a litmus test if they really are a close friend.

Yes, I have two. And yes we have called on each other for help at crazy hours and we came thru. We are all blessed with each other.

Years ago when I hung out in bars I had friends like that. These days since I don't drink, I don't want anyone calling at 02:00.

I agree, not enough choices.

I have a close friend but a 2 am phone call just to chat is rude. That's the "someone died" phone call.

Just my opinion, but you did ask.

I don't have any friends I would consider calling at 2am but I have a few that think I am that guy for them

I have close friends that are like brothers, but we’d reserve 2AM for emergency situations, and we’d always come through for each other. Just to chat? No.

And they wouldn't have me as a friend for long if they called me at 2 a.m.
Really, why would anyone call anyone at 2 a.m. for any reason other than a true emergency, and for that there is 911. I think most good friends respect each others need for a peaceful nights sleep. That's how they stay good friends...common sense and respecting boundaries.

I have a good wife. I don't need a 2AM friend.

Once when I was a teen I noticed that my father didn't have any close male confidants, so I asked him about it. He said, "Son, I have your mother and she is my best friend. I don't need a close male friend." I resolved right then and there to make my future wife my best friend.

Thank God I ended up with a good wife and she became my best friend.
