Guess it all depends on what a 'life' is. Right now, I won't part with my Breedlove. It continues to just get sweeter and nicer sounding.
I have been dabbling more with flat-picking and bluegrass ... it's possible a new life will emerge and that life will require a new guitar.

How many of you actually truly believe you have a "for life" guitar?
I bought a Jon L. Nixon all solid Koa grand auditorium in 2022 as a retirement gift to myself. Two years later it is still my favorite acoustic guitar. So I think I can safely say that it will at least be the last guitar I'll have.

I am old…
But not as old as I intend to be!
Yes, I have too many, but none I expect to sell anytime soon, and I am not destitute yet, so party on, Garth! As for lifetime guitars, I sure wish I had discovered John Kinnard’s stuff sooner! Play em if ya got em Paul

For me, there's no doubt that one of my guitars is "for life": my Gibson Hummingbird. I got it new 54 years ago as a gift from my father. At the time, the company that he worked for provided Gibson with the lacquer finish that they used on their guitars. As a result, my father got a nice discount from Gibson, picking it up from their factory.
After more than half a century together, I reckon this guitar won't leave my side until I depart the planet.

Right now I have two killer Martin guitars, a D35 (standard) and a D18 (standard). However, I have bought and sold way too many guitars for me to assume that either of these will be a lifetime guitar. If I have a guitar that would be a lifetime guitar, it's probably a custom that I had made to my specs by a local luthier (Elijah Jewel Guitars). It has a sinker redwood top over walnut back and sides, a walnut neck and headstock, with an ebony fretboard, and an ebony bridge. The inlays are custom as per my request. It is a great guitar and has cedar top vibes, but with better overall headroom.

Most of my guitars have a story so I can’t part with them. The only guitar I don’t have that I want is a Gibson Advanced Jumbo with a burst finish. Alas it’s not to be, I’ve resolved only to buy Canadian made guitars but there’s always a chance Gibson will open that long promised factory in Saskatchewan or someone will give me one. 🥸
