Default High End Case For Classical Guitar

Recommendations please. I am looking for a top notch case for a Classical guitar that is being rebuilt. I am willing to spend $200 - $300. Thanks all! -Tom

Depends upon your definition of "top-notch". Cases run up to $2k.

In the $200 to $300 price range, you may be able to purchase the least expensive of the Hiscox cases, which are a nice case in that price range.

I would recommend a Humicase Metro (fiberglass guitar case) from sam ash very safe secure and light.

Hiscox entry classical is 279 everywhere and would be very protective.

Crossrock fiberglass w/ leather cover is nicer looking, but less crush proof over the body - there's a seller on Reverb with a new one at a discount at 259.00

Or, you could go less stylish and whole hog on protection and get one of these...for less money.

Yup. If you want the toughest case bar none, get the SKB iSeries. I've owned two of them and you could throw your guitar down a flight of stairs and then tow it behind your kayak and your guitar would be dry and flawless. They are heavy, but they have wheels. I found both of mine on ebay for $180-200. But you can normally find them for about $250 if you look. The shaped cases ala Hiscox, Humicase Metro, etc are great. But the SKB is molded after the Pelican gun cases and those things are indestructible.

Elderly has a Hiscox in that price range that is SUPERB. Just bought one and it handles my classicl and my 00-12 fret steel string.

I also recommend the Hiscox from Elderly - good value for the money.

Just picked up an SKB iSeries for my current flamenco build in progress. I haven't received it yet but I am sure it has extremely good protection. It also fits my GC size Taylor 12-fret so that is a bonus too.

I picked up a demo from Sweetwater for $269 which is an amazing price for a case like this.

I have a Humicase Metro.

Sure it's cool looking and it is light but there is nothing about it that gives me confidence that if offers all that much protection. ( I haven't thrown it down the stairs or anything like that to test it

I'd use it to carry my guitar back and forth to the car. In my opinion it seems a smidgeon better than a gig bag. I don't like the way the shell flexes. Padding is OK, but nothing to rave about. For the money it seems like overpriced stylish light duty protection. It is wellmade but I think you are paying for the lightweight, not the protection.

(EDIT: I have new guitar hanging out at the airport right now that got shipped in a "Superlight" case. ( Inside a box, that is) I'm curious what that is like. I have heard good things about the cases and they are in the $200-$300 range. It'll be interesting for me to compare it to the Humicase metro since they are about the same price.)

Superlight Japanese semi-soft cases? Those are good.

My money is on Hiscox based on a balance of price, construction, protection and weight.

Yeah, if you travel or need to pack in/load out your guitar those SKB cases are the bomb(proof). Other than size (they are a bit bulky) they are perfect. The wheels equalize the size in convenience in many situations.

As home storage that same tight seal that is claimed to make them waterproof makes them good for regulating humidity too.
