That is some gorgeous wood: I particularly love the color variation - I hope it still shows under finish. Looking forward to watching this take shape!

I've hit this set with naptha to take a look, and it is stunning. When wet, the medullary rays really pop, along with the color and curl of the wood. a truly beautiful set. I can't wait!

OK, I'll bite. On the third photo, it looks as if mice have been ice skating inside the guitar.

Don't you think you're just seeing a work surface through the soundhole of the uninstalled top? Of course, it might still be that mice are skating on the workbench...

Really nice Bill, thanks for sharing.

I know Tassie blackwood and koa as acacias....where does curly black acacia come from? Is it similar to the others in sound and workability?

Yes Colins, this is Acacia Melanoxylon. Also called Austraiian blackwood, Tasmanian Blackwood. This set came from Australia.
Koa is Acacia Koa.

That back is gorgeous. I have heard some really great things about Tasmanian blackwood. Looking great so far!

Bill, this is a great looking build. Is your OM traditional in shape, dimensions, etc, and is there a particular playing style and tonal target for this guitar?

That's handsome, Bill. I especially like the rosette.

Final bracing on the back, yes.
The inlay is pearl and abalone

The size and shape of my OM is standard, the bracing is somewhat different. My guitars tend to have a cleaner more detailed bass compared to a traditional Martin, with airy mids and a strong treble. This guitar is being made for a fingerstyle blues player.
