I won't get into the argument that's going here, but regardless of the "feel" of the song, there's one thing that a click track makes far easier: editing.
If you set a tempo for your project and play to it, you can cut/paste/drag/move/insert bits of the song extremely easily if you set things to snap to a beat. Get a great take on those two bars? Easily copy & paste it later in the song where you flubbed it up the next time through the chorus. You can do it without having used a click track (I used to do that in Audacity) but it's more difficult and time-consuming. If you're using a real DAW, why not help yourself take advantage of its features? |
