A shout out to our customers
Maybe I'm just new and everyone here already knows this, but I'm absolutely gob-smacked by the customers I've gained through this forum.
For the past few months, I've been struggling with my vision. I've managed with higher intensity task lighting and ever-increasing magnification. Yesterday, the eye dr informed me that I have pretty advanced cataracts. Not a really big deal, easily fixed with surgery, but the wait time is up in the air. Could be 6 weeks, could be 6 months. So I decided to suspend my building till I can get this fixed. And today I got to tell the customer whose build I'm currently working on, along with the rest of the folks on my build list, that they're gonna have to wait. I didn't get a single whine, complaint, or request to return a deposit (though I offered). I got nothing but support, encouragement, and displays of patience that stunned me. So to all of them, and to this community of customers in general, thank you. I'm not sure we builders always understand what we've got here. Steve And I apologize in advance for any typos. As I believe I mentioned, I can't see worth a you-know-what :-)

Hi Steve,
I had cataract surgery a year or so ago in both eyes. If you have one eye that is better than the other I would suggest doing your worst eye first. They usually stagger the surgeries a few weeks apart so you will have ample time to heal and judge your success. Most surgeries go really well. I wish you the best of success. |

Good luck Tim. I found cataract surgery to be fairly uneventful, yet it was life changing. It is a pretty amazing surgery. I hope all goes well.

Had it a year ago. Second eye was done three weeks after the first. Was seeing well within a day each time. Prior to that, I wore big thick glasses. Now I can see my feet in the shower for the first time (never could wear contacts).
Honestly had I known, I would have come up with the money decades ago to have my lens replaced. Good luck. |

Hard to say which group is nicer Steve, the builders or the players! My time on the forum has allowed me to meet a whole lot of really good people.
Hope the surgery goes well for you. Col |

I'm about to have mine done, also. Fortunately it's covered by our health insurance here in Canada so it won't kick me in the wallet. Good luck with yours.

A being with both organic and non-organic parts (like a plastic lens) is called...
...a cyborg. To paraphrase Firesign Theater, "I guess we're all cyborgs on this bus..." Resistance is futile... |

Good luck, Steve. I'm a little behind you, my cataracts were just diagnosed at the first of the year, and my left eye is much worse than my right, but not quite bad enough for surgery yet. There are days when I can't do inlay, but they don't happen often, at least not yet! It must be tough to finally get a client list and have to put building on hold.
