I would agree with replacing the zipper. My dry cleaner shop replaced one on my winter coat for about $12.00 a couple years ago, so putting a new one in a gig bag should be a lot cheaper than a new bag (and if not, you can still buy a new bag.)

However, i have now had the third zip breakage which renders the gig bag useless other than an indoor guitar cover.
Does anyine have any recommendation for a decent quality gig bag that wont break the bank?
Maybe I just need to accept that the lifespan of these gigbags is a few years

Hi I like the look of the future Urban gig bags they seem up for the job

Default soft cases

In addition to Mono and Access, also add Fusion and Reunion Blues.

Have had sever stitching problems with the Ritter bags. They don't hold up well at all IMHO.

Protec Deluxe gig bags are fantastic: thick padding, heavy duty YKK zippers and Cordura nylon shell, functional pockets that will actually fit song books and sheet music. All that for under $50, and I've never had one fail.

Thanks for those additional suggestions, i will look into luggage repairers, good idea!. Also, the 33mm Ritter bags look substantial and of course a ailable this side of the pond. I still might just go for the M80 even though its more expensive....hmmm!? Decisions, decisions...

Hi, thanks again for your suggestions. ive made an altenative purchase in the end, I msnaged to locate a UK supplier of the Backaxe strap system which enables you to carry your hard case on your back like a gig bag. At £40 UK it will give me good protection as the hard case is ppretty tough, plus it can be used for different sixe guitars and my banjos. It ll be a bit bulky though, interesting to see how it fares!
Thanks, Mike

I haven't seen a better, more protective gig bag than the Reunion Blues Continental.

Can you suggest a hard case with back pack straps? None of my cases have them so I use gig bags.

Depending on the hard case you have , there is a strap on backpacker attachment for cases . It won't work on the hiscox case but it does work on a more standard shape guitar case.

Here is a link to the one I have:
