Default New Acoustic Amp - Mesa Boogie Rosette

Mesa Boogie has released an acoustic amp:

http://www.mesaboogie.com/amplifiers...ies/index.html

Seems to have a rather decent feature set and specs. No user manual on the website yet.

Based on my experience with their amps, I'd expect this to sound great, be built for the road, and to weigh a lot!

30 lbs with just about everything an acoustic guitarist could want in an acoustic amp, and, unlike most acoustic amps nowadays, it's Made In The U.S.A. I'd like the beautiful, dovetailed wooden cabinet for at home usage! Price?

28 lbs. List $999.

I was mistaken before. Here's a link to the user manual:

$999.00. Can't wait to hear one in person.

Having reviewed the manual, this amp has much promise, at least on paper. The Mesa folks did some hard, thoughtful and clever work here.

Sounds nice on the Mesa video

Of course it is advertisement but you can hear the difference between the anthem and the piezo equipped guitars

I expect it to sound pretty good as Mesa tends to have an ear for tone.

However, with two 8" speakers (and no mention of a tweeter) I wonder how much of the acoustic 'presence' it keeps/loses. I'd also like to hear it in person to see how well it projects around the room (ie. does it have a tight dispersion with a small sweet spot that is good for use as a monitor, but not as useful for wider horizontal audience coverage).

It looks like it has an excellent preamp section with all the DI output you could want, so I suspect it will be great through the PA.

It has a tweeter in addition to the pair of 8" speakers, as well as a -6db, off and flat rocker switch for the tweeter. Dunno what the crossover frequency is...the specs do not provide that datum. And speaking of specs, they are a bit light and certainly not all are summarized on Mesa's spec sheet. There are a few specs in the manual not summarized in the specifications summary (e.g., channel 2 input impedance, phantom power voltage), and there are certain specs missing (e.g., line input/output nominal dBu or dBV levels, phantom power amperage, dispersion). Still, much information is provided.

The preamp section is also available as a single-channel standalone unit.

It has a 1-inch tweeter: Speaker(s) & Impedance 2 - 8", 8 Ohm Rosette 150 Speakers & 1 - HF Dome Tweeter / Total Load = 4 Ohms

These guys must have done some great market studies and written a strong business case. If they just spent a few months reading through all the input from this forum, I'm sure it could answer most of the questions in preparing this for the market. Looks like they took lots of the feedback we listed for all our equipment trials and rolled it up in their offering. Hope it sounds as good as their electric guitar offerings.

Default New Acoustic Amp - Mesa Boogie Rosette

That video was terrific. Now I want one of these! :-). Cuki, take away my internet access please. I was skeptical about vocals but they sounded beautiful.

They came out with a new rosette preamp pedal. Looks great too.
