Default Let's hear/see those 716ce's!

Having trouble finding more info about the redesigned 716ce. Hoping some of you have one of these and would like to share your experience!

Currently have an 816ce that has been my main guitar for a year now and I really don't think this one is leaving anytime soon. It is pretty much everything I want and need.

However playing so regularly I've been thinking it would be a good idea to have a backup that handles and sounds similarly... Who am I kidding, i just want an excuse to add another guitar to the collection!

Not really interested in having another 816ce when there are so many other options out there. The 716ce really appeals to me, but I have yet to see one in a store.

I'm pretty much asking you all to convince me to buy this guitar.

Thanks!

I have a redesigned 714ce but have never seen or played a 716ce in person. As far as the difference between the new 700 series and 800, the 700 is kind of a softer and warmer version.

Andy Powers describes the general difference between the new 700 and the 800 or 900 series in this video starting at the 16:00 mark (you'll only need to watch about 30 seconds).

I find that what he says is pretty accurate and correlates with my perception between the models as well. I can only imagine that a 716ce would be a pretty good guitar although my only minor concern could be that it might be slightly bass heavy since my 714ce definitely leans that way. Then again I tend to find all 16 series to have a tad too much bass in relation to the treble but maybe that's just me.

I have played a couple of impressive 714's but not the GS body size you refer to. You might want to check for a Taylor Road Show coming to your area, where you are likely to get a chance to play one. Cheers.

Hopefully I can visit a road show one day. Thanks for the video cybershot. I haven't seen that one yet. I will probably watch the whole thing.

I would also like to try a 716, but have not found one in the shops in my area. I was thinking I wanted a 714, but my 514 sounds so much like it except a little better.....which is something else I need to dig a little deeper into, as the 514 is cedar/granadillo.

It sounds like I may not find a 716 to try very easily.

My Taylor GS7 Custom... basically an early 716.. with cedar/rosewood (which combination Taylor is not offering on the 700 series according to their site)..is a tremendous sounding guitar. It has lots of midrange and treble.. and a very musical bass in it's design (a custom order in 2009 with the relief rout in the top and CV bracing). It sat around at a GC in Los Angeles unappreciated by the clientele there... probably because of the special order wide 1 7/8 neck and the cedar top? It was exactly what I was looking for... so I rescued it, and it won't be going anywhere!
