Talking NGD- Early Xmas-- Sigma 000m-15s

My fiancé and I are going out of town for christmas next week so we figured we would do an early christmas. She suggested we do it sooner rather than later because I would "probably want to play with it a bit before we leave". I had an idea this might be coming.

She got me a Sigma 000m-15s! Slotted headstock, all mahogany (solid top), diamond fret markers, rosewood bridge/fretboard, bone saddle/nut, Grover open gear tuners, this thing is awesome. She was smart enough to get me some new strings with it, and I added some bone pins that I had laying around. For the price-point I'm really impressed with it up to now. Its not a Martin, but it is a pretty awesome 000 and fills in a gap in my guitar arsenal.

Well she's your intended and I'm already married, but maybe she'd like to adopt me huh?

Congratulations, that is a sweet instrument and you'd better hang on to her!

Its my first all hog, and I dont know many people who play all hogs so I dont have much to compare to, but I find it quite warm and pleasant. Woody but not boxy. Its pretty versitile and projects really well. It doesn't have the bass of a dread but its balanced with itself if you know what I mean. I dont hit those basenotes and think to myself "something is missing". It sounds good picked, strummed, or fingerpicked. Its not as "clear" as--my experience with--spruce, but its not muddy either, very vintage sounding. Has character. Again I have very limited mahogany top experience.

The fit and finish aren't perfect though and it needed a set-up. There are many minor things youd expect from mass produced Chinese guitars, but all in all I would recommend taking the plunge. I didnt look at the ad but I suspect it was a factory blem (inlays are a bit rough and there are a few spots where the bevel on the edge of the top isint perfect)<--again typical mass production. It was 100$ less than street price so I suspect I would have bought it myself even with these issues. Structurally and playing wise its solid. I played an OMR-21 at the store and it was flawless finish wise so hit and miss in that department--sound wise, though different, they both hit the mark for me.

Long story short: "it sounds good." Hahah

Looks like a great guitar! Wouldn't mind strumming that myself. Enjoy!

Congrats! It was on my list too and only last minute decided I wanted a dread hog. To bad about the set-up......most of the Sigma's actually come fairly well set up. I gotta stop viewing all these new guitar threads....they put bad ideas in my head.

Im sure they do. Who knows what they did to it at the shop. I got it online. The truss rod was all the way slack and the 6sth string slot was a tad high. Im guessing the slot was within spec, and probably the truss rod was messed around with before shipping by the shop tech... possibly because of the cold?
