Default Elixir gauge for a 000

Hi all,

I've used light/medium (12-56) Elixirs for years on my dreadnaught and thought I'd try some on my 000-18 Marquis. I already have spare set of this gauge but thinking that .56 might be too heavy?

I usually string it with Martin light/medium 12.5-55 as being short scale it likes that extra bit of tension and oomph. The lights might feel a bit floppy with .53 top E but there's no inbetween gauge. I'm reasonably heavy handed with this guitar both fingerstyle and strumming (which it really seems to respond to).

Does anyone use these strings on a similar size and scale git?

Thanks,
John

Go for it. If I can make more guitars run with the same type of strings that is a good thing. Less different sets I have to buy and keep up with.
