Default New MTB Day!

Brought home my new ride for this year home yesterday. Got a great closeout deal on a Norco Sight C9.3 from a local dealer, saving a really nice chunk of change.

Spent today installing my pedals, cleaning the factory lube off the drivetrain, and rode around the school parking some to do a basic setup on the suspension.

Now it just needs to hurry up and be spring....

Sweet! Thinking of picking myself one also. Been a while though but used to do a lot of mountain bike riding.

Tempting idea, but a bit of a long drive plus crossing the Sierras in winter doesn't sound fun. I do have plans to hit the Northwest (WA and OR) in early summer though.

There's some excellent riding up here in mid summer, if you ever make it up here. Sun Valley, Jackson Hole, etc.

No problem getting over the Sierra so far this winter!

Read up on that bike, looks like you're going to have some fun on the descents! Congrats on a rad new ride.

Seriously, let me know if you do make it up here. July to August is peak weather here, as long as the forest isn't on fire.

Never been, and given our Tahoe orientation will be a tough one to swing, but if I ever am, I will certainly ping you!

Just a quick update. Cabin fever set in, so a friend and I loaded up our new bikes (he just bought a Felt Decree) for a road trip to Utah for a shakedown ride. Took several adjustment breaks to dial in my position and other adjustments along the way after we got riding.

Climbing: pretty sure footed, and didn't feel like I needed to lock out the suspension since there was just enough anti-squat. Handling felt a little sluggish at walking speed, but still easy to point where I want to go. I'm debating dropping from 30 to 28t up front, since I live in serious mountain country.

Flat/rolling: fast, fast, fast. Once it hits jogging speed, it really comes to life. Lively handling, playful, and just takes off like a rocket.

Downhill: wow. I think my tire pressure and shock rebound was a little off, as the back end was a little skittish. I'll work on that when the season actually opens up. But it was fast, shrugged off all matter of trail rubble and holes, and was incredibly confidence inspiring. It's so easy just to let the bike disappear from thought and focus on the trail.
