Outstanding XT, so the gutters catch the rainwater and gravity feed it to the black tanks under the house ?

What is the reason for your post?

I enjoy seeing the homes of pickers doing well in life... What is your point about other posters living too high on the hog? It sure isn't their fault that others don't have as much as they do, is it?

In case you hadn't noticed, this whole forum is mostly about the possessions of the posters. In addition to musical gear, there are cars, motorcycles, boats, bicycles and (used to be guns?), many photographed with cameras costing way more than a single mother with five kids could ever afford... They are all featured here on a daily basis... Owning stuff is what this board is all about.

Don

On your images page you need to click on the thumbnail of the photo .
When It opens On the right side (if it is already sized when uploaded ) just click the BBCode (blue) Copy Button. and then just hit your paste command in the text box of AGF ........ if it is not presized just go to the bottom in the "Sizes" box and click "Huge Thumbnail" then BBCode Copy then paste in AGF

Did I miss the post of a Giant house ? What Mansion ? Having lived and built custom homes in Jackson Hole Wyoming for 30 years I have built guest houses as big any on this thread,,, Perhaps Einstein was right , it's all relative or maybe just a bit o green ?????

I worked on this complete remodel and addition to the guest house on the Ricketts ranch now used as a single family guest "lodge

All of you folks got some NICE digs! Well done. They all look comfy. I'd love to visit each one and drink a big cup of coffee with ya. And do some serious pickin' of course. Great thread.

My Lady and I are Swamp Southerners I guess. We've been blessed with a couple of nice places in northeast Louisiana. We have some pretty places around here too, but I can't do pictures.

Kev, we visited Yellowstone a few years ago and stayed a couple of nights in Jackson Hole. Been wanting to go back ever since. Just an astonishingly beautiful place. I envy you...sort of. The winter stuff, I can do without for the most part.

You guys have nice little corners of the world too!
Yes those are gravity fed water tanks under the house. Out here we have no electricity, phone, gas, water etc so must turn to altenative means.
The house is by no means a "mansion" , just a small place with two bedrooms, one of which will be a combined music/hobby room for both Tru and I.
We see ourselves as not so much owners of this property but as custodians for a few decades with a duty to care for and improve it as we can. There are about three hundred acres of the place that used to be sheep farm but over time we will return those parts back to native bushland. We bought this property not to make money from it but to be a refuge and sanctuary for the dwindling native flora & fauna. Being able to enjoy the place is a bonus.

I don't see this thread as bragging, just a bit of interest in our fellow humans ways of life.

Oh yes, StevenL, if you (or anyone else here) finds them self over here in Oz, there will be a spare guitar to pick upon and the coffee pot will be simmering.

Since when is a 1,500 sq ft house considered a "mansion?"

My home has 3 bedrooms, 1.5 baths, and a half finished cellar. My wife and I are the only occupants and our entire income is earned from our home-based publishing business, so 1 bedroom serves as her office and I have my office in the cellar.

I started this thread so that I could show others my home.

I encouraged others to do the same if they wanted. I like the glimpses such threads provide of the lives of others here on the forum.

What is the reason for your post?

Oops, I missed this bit. My house has 2 smaller bedrooms and a half bath upstairs in a dormer. They look out into a living/dining room with a cathedral ceiling. The south facing wall of the l/d room has two 8 foot sliders, side by side, on top of which are four trapezoidal windows looking out over the pond.

Interesting the turn this thread took. For many of us, our homes, like the music we play, are extensions of our preferences. Nothing gained by putting down (or envying) another's choice.

In my early 30s, I built a large (some would call "showy") home and commercial building. Those served us well, but into our 50s, we were ready to downsize and simplify. We built a small "vacation" home on the water, which became our retirement home base. We have boat cruised and land cruised (still do), spending months at a time traveling.

Our home is modest, but located with great water access, and the easy and secure ability to lock it and leave it when we want. A few years ago, my wife suggested we turn her "office" (small second bedroom) into a guitar room for me. I love it!

A look down our canal...

Ours is the place with the lights on the railing.

Don't let the insecurity of others bother you . I think inquiring into and posting pictures of the living situations and locals of the Forum members is interesting. There appears to be an array of different situations, from the Australian Outback ,to the Florida coast to, to Connecticut swamps :!!

Here is our other place which is in Colorado a bit more close in and civilized . Where my wife and I live with our daughter and son in law, in a multigenerational single house with two complete separate dwelling areas with door that connects the two areas ..Where we spend most of the winter and spring.

Now this one is 5600 sq ft so a bit larger looking from the outside, but more or less equals 2300 per living unit area. With the added efficiency of one dwelling footprint, one water source, one leach field , one electric source, and one basic radiant bottom floor heat source.

House

Looking South E. towards the cattle ranch (at the end of the Electric fence line) that our property borders on two sides .

Looking N.West thru the horse paddock electric fencing with more of ranch beyond the buckrail fence.

Looks like most members live on huge country acreages or on waterfront properties. I guess a picture of my apartment, in the city, would look rather lowly amongst these.
