Default Anyone know a luthier in the Dallas/Ft Worth area you would trust with a Goodall?

Preferably in the mid-cities area.
I just need to have the frets dressed, and a professional set up done on my RGCC.
There is a Taylor dealer with a repair shop just down the road, but I am hesitant to take this guitar to just anyone.
Any referrals would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
mtl

Charlie's has been around for a long time and does repairs and setups, but I have no experience with them. Also, there are luthiers in the area you might try - Chris Jenkins in Mansfield (817) 473-6949. There is a Plek fret dressing machine in Norman, OK (supposed to be THE state of the art machine) 888-321-8399 - but again, I have no experience with them either.

Good Luck

Not exactly mid-cites, but the farthest one that way that is definitely trustworthy is Jim at Texas Guitar & Sound. He used to be in Lewisville, and I believe has moved to Coppell, on 121 in the vicinity of Grapevine Mills. The phone number I had written down was (972) 315-0133, but I have also seen (972) 745-0133 on the internet ... f one doesn't work, try the other one !

BigRed51,
Was Jim at Brook Mays in Lewisville? The guy that was at Brook Mays was very good, but I don't know where he went now that Brook Mays has closed (I think his name was Jim). A friend of mine had him dress the frets on a 612ce and was very pleased with the results. I would like to find him again.

FarTraveler,
Yes, that would be Players on Pipeline. Thanks for the reference.

Thanks to all for the information.

If you haven't already, call Danny at APM to see if he knows someone....

No, he has had Texas Guitar & Sound for many years ... they just moved to a bigger location. I don't get over there very often, but he does very good work and is a straight shooter.

I'm guessing you're talkin'bout Player's in Hurst?
I know of 1 guy who's working for Music & Arts. You can try to call 214-366-0159, and ask for Larry Phetteplace. He's been around DFW for YEARS doing set-ups...mostly orchestral strings, but he's quite a guitarist and he did a fine job on my Telecaster.
Bottom line: he could take care of your Goodall.
