Irish Traditional Arrangements
Here is a few Irish traditional tunes I've arranged in DADGAD. The first one is The Cork Hornpipe (also known as Harvest Home), the second one is The Wedding Reel and the third is The Glasgow Reel (also known as Tam Lin). This was videoed on Muckish Mountain, Donegal in NW Ireland by Alistair Hay of Emerald Guitars and this is one of his instruments I'm playing. He made it for me last year. Hope you enjoy the tunes.

FYI, "The Wedding Reel" is properly named "MacLeod's Farewell" (it was composed by Donald Shaw of Capercaillie). It was misnamed by Lunasa on their Merry Sisters of Fate recording and has, unfortunately, been widely propagated under that incorrect title. See this...
Great playing. Phil

Nice playing! Your journey looks like fun, and some amazingly beautiful sights (which obviously match beautiful Irish tunes)...
Also a very interesting instrument you have, can you tell us more about it? |

Hi DariaS. Thanks for the compliment. It's a carbon fibre guitar made by Alistair Hay who runs Emerald Guitars here in Ireland. This particular model is the smallest he makes and is designed as a travel guitar. It is small enough to carry onto a plane as hand luggage and being made of carbon fibre you can take it anywhere without fear of it getting damaged. Since he made it for me last year I've travelled in the extremes of the Sahara Desert with it, skied on The Alps with it and now this adventure up an Irish mountain. For someone like me who enjoys travel and has to have a guitar with me at all times it's perfect :-)

Enjoyed the Irish songs. Lovely scenery also. Nice sounding guitar. Do you carry it in a case when your hiking?
