Inexpensive pickup
I'm looking for an inexpensive pickup/mic to amplify a classical guitar. It's an inexpensive classical and it will only be used in emergency situations. im a bass player so I rarely need to amplify a guitar. Like almost never. Ok I almost needed to this week but didn't. I was looking at some gfs stuff. They make and under the saddle pickup and a condenser mic one. I'll attach links. (I realize they're not the best). Any opinions on what might be better? I have a JJB piezo one now. The one that attaches to the outside of the guitar. It sounds ok but because it's not permanently attached it's hard to use. Are they're other options I'm not thinking of? Thanks.

The Kremona piezo pickup is pretty handy for classical guitars:

I use a Dean Markley transducer. It sticks on with putty, which can be tricky to get all the putty off when you"re done, but if it's a cheap guitar maybe that's OK. Stick it on or near the bridge.

I think I didn't post this correctly, so here goes again.
I use a Dean Markley transducer, sticks on with putty. It can be tricky to remove all the putty when you're done, but maybe that's OK with a cheap guitar. Stick it on the or near the bridge. Wrap something on the cord if the cord touches the edge of the guitar, otherwise you'll hear the sound of the cord scraping the guitar edge. The sound will also be affected by the quality of the guitar. |
