Pretty much this. A tele is a simple machine. There are many flavours but if you check out the 50's or 60's Squier Classic Vibe teles (under $400), you might just start wondering why you would bother to pay more.

Seriously, check them out. In my experience, they're a step above the Mexican standard line, but just short of the American standards.
